Halloween in Review...the Honest Truth

Disclaimer: Although this is my personal opinion, I have heard more than enough from the people around me to know what I am talking about on the matter.

GUYS- AMAZING job this year. I can't even begin to explain the level of creativity I saw both Friday and Saturday night. From the Hamburger Helper hand and giant Penguins to Trolls, Mario and Luigi, the effort was clearly evident. Although several of these have been seen before, kudos to coming up with some great costumes and going all out.

GIRLS NO ONE WANTS TO SEE SLUTTY STORE BOUGHT HALLOWEEN COSTUMES ANYMORE. To be completely honest, they are boring and repetitive. I know Halloween is that one holiday where you can "dress slutty and get away with it" but honestly, unless your intention is to give off that image there is no point in dressing like a slut. Lets be realistic, all girls look at other girls they don't know and develop opinions about them right off the bat. I am not saying all girls are judgmental bitches but we are opinionated. How many different people over the years have you seen dressed as a slutty cop? a slutty "gangster"? a slutty sailor? I mean come on girls, GET ORIGINAL. There is one exception though, homemade costumes, IF you are creative enough to craft your own sailor costume, then wear it, show it off, thats awesome. But year after year the same slutty costumes come out of their boxes and they are always the same. You honestly don't look good, you look like a slut. How's that for honesty?

Sorry to end on a sour note- I will follow with a best/worst of halloween shortly!

Blue Suede Shoes- a term that we have all heard throughout our lives, now has a new meaning. These shoes have quickly become this fall’s new must-have item. From Marc Jacobs to Stuart Weitzman, the styles and colors may vary, but they are all classic blue suede. Either in flats, sneakers, or pumps this color goes with almost any outfit! Although shoes are the hot item, blue suede is a must in any accessory from bags to belts as well. Warm Fall Weather

Although all this warm weather may be deceiving, as of September 22, it is fall ladies and gentlemen. This means it’s time to pack up those pastels and white pants, and tuck the sundresses away until next spring. I know it’s hard checking the weather, and realizing the forecast is 93 degrees and sunny at the end of September, but that does not mean it’s still summer. So what do you wear on these hot fall days? For guys, you cannot go wrong with a nice pair of khaki shorts or even a dark grey or blue chino. Pair it with a lightweight button down or even a solid T. This creates a great, comfortable look for these hot fall days. As far as shoes are concerned, a nice pair of leather flip-flops or dark boat shoes should do the trick.

Girls, though this may seem like a more difficult task, it is really quite simple. Pair a cute pair of shorts (jean or a nice fall color) with a layered tank or lightweight top and a stylish cardigan for the chilly mornings, and you should be all set. There is a wider variety of shoes to choose from this season as well; from leather flip-flops to boat shoes, dark flats or some cute, short boots, these should work perfectly during these last warm days. Enjoy the weather while it lasts, but remember, it’s time for fall fashion!

Romp: high-spirited, carefree, and boisterous play

Merriam-Webster Definition:
Romp: high-spirited, carefree, and boisterous play
Romper: one that romps

This is the perfect way to describe this great mid-summer trend. Rompers have been back on the scene all summer. For those of you who are unaware of what rompers are, they are not dissimilar to the jumpers we used to wear as infants. A simple one piece outfit consisting of shorts attached to a top, how genius. No extra thought necessary, no need to try to mix and match tops and bottoms, colors and patterns. Simply slip into a romper and you are good to go! They are the perfect summer outfit good for any occasion. They can be dressed up with a nice pair of heels and some statement jewelry, or they can be toned down and casual with some gladiator sandals and some big summer sunglasses. However you want to wear them you will be more than ready for some "high-spirited, carefree, and boisterous play" all summer long! Plus- paired with a cute sweater or cardigan these could be a great early fall piece as well!

Much love

I am not quite sure how to react to this new 'trend' but vajazzling, made popular by Jennifer Love Hewitt, is actually what it sounds like. Remember bedazzling, that crazy fad where rhinestones and studs are added to an assortment of items from bags to clothing? That seems to be what we are seeing here. Vajazzling is bedazzling for your...lady parts. As odd as this sounds it has been a popular topic for discussion over the last few months. Being offered at Completely Bare a luxury spa with four locations in New York this trend seems to be catching on. The process is simple, it begins with waxing and then Swarovski crystals are applied either from a sheet or individually. I can't say I understand this trend yet, but it is out there, and people love it. Apparently this is is quite a hit with the guys... so all you guys out there, enlighten me, what is it about this you like so much?

McQueen Forever

Just this weekend I opened up the Sunday New York Times, flipped to the style section, and right there was the article I have been waiting for. The remembrance article for Alexander McQueen.  This article looked into his life, relationships with family and close friends, and influences that shaped who he was. I couldn't help but feel nostalgic while reading this as his influence on the fashion industry was so crucial. I cannot do the article or Mr. McQueen justice, so you can read the article here.

Hey guys! I know I have been slacking lately but I will be back to daily postings very soon, I promise! In the meantime help me out and pass this on to your friends, ask them to follow my blog on bloglovin and let me know what you would like to see more of!

Inspiration McQueen

"We don't all want to dress like soldiers, wearing the same uniform for the same price. There is a viewpoint that people should play safe because they can't afford to frighten their customer but, in fact, the opposite is true. You have to push forward and realise the power of fantasy and escapism. I remember when I first started out, I used to walk past what was then Valentino in Bond Street and just look in amazement at the way the clothes were finished. I was working in Savile Row then, it was about 1986, and it was miraculous, so inspiring. I have always wanted to create pieces that are unique and that have emotional content, pieces that can be handed down, like an heirloom. I want people to get joy out of my clothes."-Alexander McQueen

The Return of Swatch?

This new Canadian company May28th has come out with a line of watches that bring to mind the older Swatch Watches. A very popular concept but are we ready to see it again?

It's A Barbie World!

Barbie has been a well known name throughout the lives of every little girl since 1959. The seemingly flawless doll is every young girls fantasy. Dress them up however you want for any occasion in any outfit with the shoes to match! Barbie has been the center of attention for more than young girls, in 1997 the bubblegum pop group Aqua released their hit song 'Barbie Girl'. Their lyrics included

"I'm a barbie girl, in the barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic!
you can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
Imagination, life is your creation"

Source: Net-a-Porter

But it is not just throughout the adolescent community that Barbie is an influential and well known name. Just this year designer Christian Louboutin joined up with Barbie to create a limited addition Barbie of his own. Whether you are a Barbie or fashion fanatic this is a must have for all! This Barbie comes with 4 pairs of the well known red-soled Louboutins each pair comes with a bag and a shoe box!Source: Net-a-Porter

Not only has Christian Louboutin taken Barbie by storm recently, but the 2009 50th Anniversary Barbie Runway Show was one for the books. Although many of the outfits are far beyond what any Barbie owner used to have the designers created pieces that well expressed 50 years of Barbies style.
